GUNNISON, CO -- Western New Mexico's men's basketball found the RMAC's other "Western" too tough Thursday night as the Mustangs fell 82-74 in Gunnison. The loss was Western New Mexico's second straight, and moved their record to 9-12 on the season and 5-8 in the RMAC. Western State is 9-11 and 4-8.

Western New Mexico never led in the game despite shooting a respectable .460 from the field. The Mustangs were pounded on the boards however as the Mountaineers cleared 38 rebounds to WNMU's 25.

Jason Jackson (Albuquerque, NM/Highland High School) led WNMU in scoring, pouring in 18 points. Trey Clarkson (Tucson, AZ/Sal Pointe High School) added 16 while freshman Shannon Doctor (Sierra Vista, AZ/Buena High School) added 12.

Western State's Carlton Goggins led the Mountaineers with 20 points.

The Mustangs hit the road again next weekend, with games against Mesa State and Fort Lewis.
